Gospel music artist Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, have expressed heartfelt gratitude to outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden for his selfless service to humanity.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the couple also praised Biden for recognizing their contributions to America, particularly through their music.
In October 2024, at the age of 82, Biden honored Chinwo and Uzochikwa with the prestigious President’s Lifetime Service Award. The accolade celebrates individuals who have shown a lifelong commitment to volunteerism and national service. It recognized the couple’s efforts to uplift lives through their music and ministry, positively impacting communities both in the U.S. and globally.
Reflecting on Biden’s service, the couple quoted a passage from Ecclesiastes 3:1: “To everything, there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.” They noted that as President Biden’s tenure comes to an end, it serves as a reminder of the passage of time and the importance of the legacy we leave behind. “What truly matters is the legacy we leave behind—the values we uphold, the lives we touch, and the good we do for others,” they said.
The couple continued, “In the spirit of gratitude, we are deeply honored to have received the President Biden Lifetime Achievement Award last year. This recognition serves as a powerful reminder to remain committed to serving humanity through charity, education, and faith-based principles.”
They also extended their sincere thanks to President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for their dedication to community service, wishing them peace and joy as they step into the next chapter of their lives as senior citizens of the United States.
Mercy Chinwo and Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa tied the knot in August 2022. Together, they co-own Grace and Truth Nation, a music label that has nurtured and signed many gospel artists.
